West Singhbhum: The 108 ambulance at the Jhinkpani Community Health Centre in West Singhbhum district has reportedly remained out of service for nearly three months, creating difficulties for patients requiring emergency medical transportation.
With the ambulance service disrupted, residents of the block are facing problems reaching hospitals during emergencies. In cases of accidents, childbirth or serious illness, patients are reportedly unable to access a government ambulance on time.
Patients Forced to Rely on Private Vehicles
Family members of patients are being forced to arrange private vehicles or private ambulances to reach hospitals during emergencies. This has added to the financial burden on economically weaker families.
Residents said the 108 ambulance service is particularly important for rural areas such as Jhinkpani, where access to emergency transportation can be limited.
Residents Demand Early Restoration of Service
Villagers said it was a matter of concern that the ambulance service had not been restored despite remaining out of operation for a long period.
According to local residents, emergency ambulance services have also remained a concern in the Tonto area, where patients are sometimes required to arrange their own transportation to hospitals.
Demand for Repairs and Better Ambulance Services
Jhinkpani residents and social workers Jitendra Gop, Jitendra Kumar and Sunil Anand have demanded that the district administration and the Health Department ensure the early repair of the faulty ambulance and restore the service.
They have also appealed for improvements in healthcare and ambulance services in Tonto and other nearby areas.
