Bihar News : In a tragic road accident early Saturday morning, eight people were killed and five seriously injured after a speeding truck collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw near the Ultratech Cement Factory in the Shahjahanpur police station area of Patna district.
Confirming the incident, Patna Rural SP Vikram Sihag stated that all deceased were residents of Malawa village, Hilsa, Nalanda district. The victims were returning from a holy dip in the Ganges river at Fatuha on the occasion of Bhadon Amavasya, a religious day observed by Hindus.
According to police, the impact of the collision was so severe that the auto was completely mangled, and the bodies were thrown onto the road. All eight victims died on the spot. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to Patna for advanced treatment.
Eyewitnesses said the tanker truck was overspeeding, and the driver lost control, resulting in a direct collision with the auto-rickshaw.
Police reached the scene promptly, recovered the bodies, and sent them for postmortem. The matter is under investigation.
