Offbeat News: Bollywood actress Esha Talwar has recently stirred controversy by making a serious allegation. She has accused Yash Raj Films’ well-known casting director Shanoo Sharma of making an extremely uncomfortable demand in a public place.
Esha revealed that the incident took place at Mia Cucina, a crowded restaurant in Versova, Mumbai, where she had been called for a role. Commenting on a publication’s post on social media, she shared her experience and explained how the incident deeply shook her confidence. Known for her powerful performances in Mirzapur, Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo, and the film Article 15, Esha claimed that during the meeting with Shanoo Sharma and her assistant, she was suddenly asked to cry in front of everyone to see if she could get into character.
The demand, made in front of waiters and other customers at the restaurant, left Esha not only uncomfortable but also humiliated. She stated clearly that being an actor does not mean one must shed all inhibitions, especially in an unsafe and unprofessional environment. Calling the incident bizarre and unsettling, she questioned why a casting director from such a big production house would choose a crowded public place for an audition.
According to Esha, a casting director should either set up a proper audition space or rent a private venue where the actor can perform freely. She said that she refused to cry in public at that moment and, as a result, did not get the role. However, she expressed no regret over her decision.
Esha Talwar’s account sheds light on the reality faced by artists working in the industry and the pressures they endure during the casting process.
