The workshop began with an inspiring address by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr. S. Chatterjee, who emphasized the importance of mental health and self-discipline in the fight against addiction. “Freedom from stress and mastering self-control are the most effective tools to stay away from substance abuse,” he remarked.

The session was led by Brahma Kumari Indu Behn, an experienced trainer in meditation and Rajyoga, who highlighted the rising inclination of today’s youth toward intoxicants. She stressed the importance of emotional balance, particularly in academic and professional life. “The mind must first be calm, stable, and strong — Rajyoga is one of the most effective tools to achieve this,” she said.

The workshop introduced students and faculty to practical techniques like deep breathing exercises, mindfulness meditation, and yogic practices that support mind-body harmony. Participants actively engaged in the session and openly shared their experiences.

The event was hailed as a milestone in fostering a positive shift in campus culture. University Registrar Dr. Amit Kumar Pandey expressed a strong commitment to organizing similar workshops in the future, centered around awareness and mental well-being.

The workshop’s core objective was to empower youth to overcome stress, avoid addictive behaviors, and embrace a positive and healthy lifestyle. The program was successfully coordinated under the leadership of Dr. Mainak Banerjee, Nodal Officer of the Anti-Drug Committee.
