Jharkhand News : On the opening day of the monsoon session of the Jharkhand Assembly, both ruling and opposition parties came together to demand India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, for Dishom Guru Shibu Soren. Legislators called for a resolution to be passed in the Assembly and forwarded to the Central Government.
Speaking to reporters after the session, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said, “This is the sentiment of the House. It reflects the emotions of the people of Jharkhand, which members have echoed in the Assembly. The House will deliberate on it.”
Earlier in the session, the demand was raised by Congress Legislature Party leader Pradeep Yadav, AJSU legislator Nirmal Mahato, and JD(U) MLA Saryu Rai, who all stressed that Shibu Soren’s contributions to tribal rights and statehood deserve national recognition.
Shibu Soren, popularly known as Dishom Guru, is a veteran tribal leader and one of the key figures in the movement for the creation of Jharkhand.
