Netanyahu nominated US President Trump for Nobel Peace Prize for peace efforts

World News : Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with President Donald Trump for dinner at the White House on Monday, where both leaders celebrated recent actions against Iran. Netanyahu announced he had nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, praising his efforts to promote peace and security in the region. Netanyahu also handed a copy of the nomination letter he sent to the prize committee, which Trump, a self-proclaimed peacemaker, found surprising and meaningful, expressing gratitude to Netanyahu.

“Coming from you, in particular, this is very meaningful. Thank you very much,” Trump told Netanyahu.

Netanyahu also noted ongoing discussions for a 60-day ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Trump highlighted the importance of defending Ukraine and expressed intentions to provide more arms, echoing sentiments previously shared by White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt. This meeting marked their third encounter at the White House this year.

Netanyahu characterized the attacks on Iran as a historic victory that reshapes the Middle East. He emphasized the need for an end to the Gaza conflict, mentioning plans for aid delivery and the potential release of hostages. Prior to the meeting, he referred to the event as a celebration of a “major victory over a common enemy (Iran).” Currently, 20 hostages are alive among the 50 still held in the region.
