Over 400 Municipal Workers in Palamu Strike Work Over Pending Salaries

Jharkhand News : More than 400 municipal employees in Palamu began a work boycott on Monday after not receiving their salaries for the past three months. The employees marked their attendance but refused to perform duties, staging protests outside the Chhammuhaan office and the municipal corporation office at the Collectorate.

The protest was organized under the banner of the Jharkhand Local Bodies Employees Federation, Medininagar unit. Workers said the absence of a Municipal Commissioner since June 1 has stalled salary disbursement. Despite repeated demands, no action has been taken, forcing them to stop work.

Federation president Bishun Ram Chandravanshi said employees are facing financial distress. A memorandum had been submitted to the Assistant Municipal Commissioner on September 1, demanding salary payments by September 7. With no resolution, workers have now decided to continue their strike until salaries are released.

During the demonstration, employees raised slogans pressing for immediate payments and warned of intensifying the protest if their demands are not met.
