Jharkhand News : A major industrial accident occurred late Friday night at the New Madhuban Washery of BCCL’s Block-2 area in Baghmara, Dhanbad. The No. 1 coal silo at the washery suddenly collapsed, causing approximately 5,000 tons of washed coal to come crashing down with the debris.
The incident triggered panic in the area, drawing a large crowd to the site within minutes.
Upon receiving information, officials from BCCL and the district administration rushed to the spot. During the collapse, a worker was trapped inside Silo No. 3. A dramatic rescue operation ensued, lasting several hours. The worker was eventually pulled out safely.
For the rescue operation, a heavy air service crane was brought in from Bokaro, and drone cameras were deployed to monitor the trapped worker’s condition and plan the rescue.
Local MLA Shatrudhan Mahato also arrived at the scene and demanded strict action against the contractor responsible for the structural failure.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause and accountability.
