Actors Need at Least One Day Off a Week: Naira Banerjee

Offbeat News : Bollywood actress Naira Banerjee recently voiced her opinion on the demanding work culture of the television industry. She emphasized that long working hours negatively impact the health, sleep, and performance of actors. According to her, artists can only deliver their best when they are mentally and physically fit.

Naira suggested that a weekly day off—or at least a half-day break—is essential so that actors can spend time with their families and maintain a personal life. Speaking candidly, she shared that shooting for 15 hours a day has become routine in the TV industry, which is exhausting. For this reason, she makes it a condition in her contracts that she gets at least one day off per week.

She highlighted the importance of balancing work and personal life, saying that without rest, no actor can fully portray their character with energy and emotions. When asked if she would consider working in television again, Naira said yes, but strictly on her terms—strong roles, a nearby shooting location like Film City, a trusted channel, a good director, and satisfactory pay.

Reflecting on her career, Naira said she feels lucky never to have been typecast. Unlike many actors, she has successfully worked across television, South Indian films, and web series, which has given her a distinct identity. She believes each medium has its own audience, and with her passion for acting, she wants to keep taking on projects that challenge her as an artist.
