10 Naxalites Surrender Before DGP in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum

Jharkhand News : In a major success for Jharkhand Police, ten CPI (Maoist) cadres surrendered before Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta on Thursday, declaring their decision to return to the mainstream. The surrendered ultras include six men and four women.

The event was attended by senior officials including CRPF IG (Jharkhand) Saket Singh, IG (Operations) Michael Raj S, IG (STF), DIG (Kolhan), DIG (Special Branch), and SP Chaibasa. DGP Gupta welcomed the cadres by garlanding them.

The surrendered Naxalites had been active in the Kolhan and Saranda regions and were wanted in multiple serious cases under the IPC, Explosives Act, Arms Act, UAPA, and CLA Act. Among them were area committee member Rando Boipai alias Kanti Boipai, along with Gartee Koda, John alias Johan Purty, Nirso Sidu alias Asha, Ghonor Devgam, Gomeya Koda alias Tarzan, Kaira Koda, Keri Kayam alias Gulanchi, Savitri Gop alias Muturi alias Football, and Pradeep Singh Munda.

DGP Gupta described the development as a significant achievement, noting that Jharkhand’s surrender and rehabilitation policy has encouraged many Maoists to abandon violence. He added that in the last three years, 26 Naxalites have surrendered in West Singhbhum alone. This latest surrender marks a major setback for the Maoist outfit and will further weaken extremist activities in Chaibasa and Kolhan.

The police have appealed to remaining Naxalites to lay down arms, take advantage of the rehabilitation policy, and join the path of development by integrating into society.
