Jharkhand News : Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday met with the families of martyred police constables Sunil Kumar Ram and Santan Kumar Mehta at his official residence on Kanke Road, Ranchi. The families were handed financial assistance of ₹1.10 crore each under the State Bank of India’s Police Salary Package scheme. The ex-gratia amount was directly deposited into their bank accounts.

CM Soren expressed heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and said the state government stands firmly with them. “Constables Ram and Mehta made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the people. The state salutes their martyrdom,” said Soren.

The Chief Minister assured continued support, stating that the government understands the pain of martyr families and remains committed to their well-being. He encouraged the families to use the financial support wisely, particularly for the education and upbringing of their children.

In a major announcement, CM Soren said the state government will soon set up a residential school in Ranchi for the children of martyred police personnel. The school will offer free, quality education, modeled after private institutions, and will be built on 4 acres of land already identified within the Jharkhand Jaguar campus. It will be operated by the police department.

Additionally, the CM revealed plans to establish a dedicated hospital for police personnel and their families, ensuring better healthcare access for those in the police force.

Including all benefits, pensions, and the state police department’s compensation for anti-insurgency casualties, each family is expected to receive a total financial aid package of up to ₹2 crore.

State Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, DGP Anurag Gupta, Palamu SP Rishma Ramesan, senior officials from SBI including Manoj Kumar (Deputy GM, Ranchi Circle), AGM Reena Kumari, and Chief Manager Vikas Kumar Pandey were also present at the event.
