Farmer Found Hanging from Tree in East Singhbhum, Missing for Two Days

Jharkhand News : A wave of shock and mystery has gripped the Patamda area of East Singhbhum district after the body of a missing farmer was found hanging from a tree in a forest. The deceased has been identified as 63-year-old Kanthiram Mahato, a resident of Jalla village.

According to reports, Kanthiram had left home two days ago to work in his fields but never returned. Despite frantic searches by his family and widespread posts on social media, there was no trace of him until Sunday evening when a local shepherd noticed a body hanging from a tree near the forested area of Chadarikol village under Lachhipur Panchayat.

The information was relayed to villagers, and the family reached the site. However, due to darkness and the body being around 20 feet high on the tree, identification couldn’t be confirmed immediately.

On Monday morning, Patamda police station in-charge Karampal Bhagat reached the spot with his team and had the body brought down. After completing inquest formalities, the body was sent for post-mortem to MGM Medical College.

A large crowd of villagers had gathered at the site, and police are currently investigating the case to determine whether it was a suicide or if foul play was involved.
