Two Freight Trains Collide at Adityapur Railway Yard, Major Accident Averted

Jharkhand News : A major accident was narrowly averted on Wednesday morning near the Adityapur Railway Yard in Seraikela-Kharsawan district. Around 9:45 a.m., a speeding freight train coming from the Sharma Basti direction lost control, broke through the yard wall, and collided with another stationary freight train. The impact was so intense that several wagons of both trains climbed over each other, creating chaos in the area.

At the time of the incident, several railway workers were present in the yard, but all managed to move to a safe location just in time, preventing any major casualties. According to eyewitnesses, the freight train that rammed into the other was moving down a slope without an engine.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the mishap may have occurred due to a technical fault or brake failure. Upon receiving information, railway officials and technical teams rushed to the site and began an inquiry. The process of removing the damaged wagons is underway, and efforts are being made to restore railway operations at the earliest.

Following the incident, the railway administration has directed a thorough review of safety standards to prevent such accidents in the future.
