Jharkhand News : ESL Steel Limited, in collaboration with EMP Bindi International Association, organized an Inception Workshop under Project Jivika at the EMP Bindi International Association Office, Bijulia, Bokaro. The initiative aims to empower women entrepreneurs by facilitating access to government schemes, MSME programs, and credit linkages for sustainable livelihood development.

The workshop brought together key stakeholders, including government officials, financial institutions, and women entrepreneurs, to discuss opportunities for women-led enterprises.

Prominent participants included Mr. Philmun Bilung, District Development Manager, NABARD; Mr. Vivek Prakash, Director, DIC; Mr. Kishor Rajak, District Coordinator, DIC; and Mr. Abid Hussain, Lead District Manager, Bank of India. The event also saw active participation from the CSR team of ESL Steel Limited and women entrepreneurs associated with Project Jivika.

Officials from NABARD, DIC, and Bank of India shared detailed insights on MSME registration, credit facilities, and government programs supporting women-owned businesses. The ESL CSR team presented various interventions under Project Jivika focusing on capacity building, market linkages, and financial inclusion.

A major highlight of the workshop was the successful registration of 50 women entrepreneurs under Udyam, enabling them to access formal financial systems and credit opportunities. Participants also showcased a range of locally made products—including handwash, dishwash, bamboo crafts, textiles, and phenyl—which received high appreciation from attending officials and stakeholders.

Government and financial representatives commended ESL Steel Limited’s CSR initiatives for promoting women’s entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods in Bokaro district.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Kunal Daripa, Head – CSR, ESL Steel Limited, said:

The workshop laid a strong foundation for advancing Project Jivika’s mission of empowering women through skill enhancement, enterprise development, and financial inclusion.

About Project Jivika

A flagship CSR initiative by ESL Steel Limited, Project Jivika focuses on empowering rural women through livelihood generation, capacity building, and entrepreneurship development to promote sustainable and inclusive community growth.

The four-year project aims to strengthen livelihood opportunities for 2,842 women across 27 villages in Chas and Chandankiyari blocks of Bokaro, Jharkhand. Through targeted interventions in textiles, mushroom cultivation, phenyl production, bamboo crafts, and other enterprises, Project Jivika seeks to ensure a 30% average increase in monthly income for its beneficiaries and their families.
