Gorakshasana: An Effective Yoga Solution for Digestive Problems

Yoga experts describe it as a core posture of the ancient Nath yogi tradition and consider it an advanced yogic pose. Regular practice of this asana helps balance the body, mind, and prana (life energy), thereby revitalizing inner energy.

Gorakshasana is especially beneficial for people suffering from weak digestion, bloating, constipation, and acidity. How to Perform Gorakshasana:
Sit on the floor with both legs stretched out in front. Bend the legs, bring the soles of the feet together, and gently pull the heels toward the buttocks. Sit on the heels, press the knees down toward the floor, and keep the spine completely straight. Place the hands on the knees in Gyan Mudra, keep the head and neck upright, and breathe normally. Hold the posture for 1–2 minutes initially and gradually increase the duration with practice.

Experts say that regular practice strengthens the digestive system, improves prostate gland function, relieves lower back and leg pain, and significantly enhances the ability to meditate. Due to its effectiveness in yogic practices and spiritual discipline, Gorakshasana is also referred to as a “Siddha Asana.”
