Jharkhand News : The two-day Annual Sports Festival–2025 was inaugurated with great enthusiasm on Saturday at the campus of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Dhurwa, Ranchi. The event was inaugurated in the presence of the Chief Guest, Prof. Aditya Prasad, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Ranchi, and Special Guest, Ramchandra Sanga, an international athlete.

The dignitaries were welcomed following traditional Jharkhand customs. The inauguration ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Prof. Aditya Prasad unfurled the sports flag, after which the Special Guest formally declared the Annual Sports Festival–2025 open. The sports torch was lit, and the flag bearers of all houses took an oath to uphold true sportsmanship. This was followed by an impressive march past by the students.
Cultural performances added charm to the event. Students of the secondary section presented a graceful Ganesh Vandana through song and dance, while primary section students showcased sports-themed dance performances. The song “Chale Chale Hum Nish Din” presented by secondary section girls captivated the audience.
Setting the context of the programme, Akhileshwar Nath Mishra, Minister, Shishu Vikas Mandir Committee (Jharkhand), stated that success in education, sports, business, and politics depends on calm thinking, a healthy body, and discipline. He emphasized that sports are an integral part of education.
Addressing the students, Special Guest Ramchandra Sanga highlighted the importance of sports in daily life and encouraged students to actively participate in games along with academics.
In his address, Chief Guest Prof. Aditya Prasad said that India is the world’s largest democracy and that students play a vital role in nation-building. He emphasized that sports instill discipline and noted the immense potential of Jharkhand’s youth in the field of sports. He also mentioned the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under which athletes receive financial incentives ranging from ₹25,000 to ₹50,000.
Delivering the presidential address, Shaktinath Lal Das, President, Shishu Vikas Mandir Committee (Jharkhand), stated that sports are a core component of Vidya Bharati, contributing to the physical, mental, and intellectual development of children. He emphasized that sports should promote healthy competition, not hostility.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Lal Ashok Nath Shahdev, Member of the Committee. The school Principal, Lalan Kumar, introduced the guests.
On the first day, a total of 34 sporting events were conducted, including 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, and 1500 m races, frog race, balance race, and relay race. The winners were awarded medals and certificates by the Chief Guest and Special Guest.
The ceremony was attended by principals of various schools, committee members, teachers, staff, students, and parents.
On December 28, 2025, the second day of the festival, 20 more events will be held. The closing ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM.
