Jharkhand News : Ahead of New Year celebrations, the district administration has put strict security and safety measures in place to maintain law and order across the city and popular tourist spots. Authorities have warned that anyone found driving under the influence of alcohol will face strict action. Vehicles will be seized and offenders, along with passengers, may be forced to return home on foot.
Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said that special arrangements have been made in view of the expected crowd at picnic and tourist locations such as Dasham Falls, Jonha Falls, Hundru Falls, along with dams, rivers, reservoirs and other water bodies. Magistrates and police officers have been deployed at these locations to ensure safety and discipline.
Strict checking drives will be conducted against drunk driving and rash driving. Vehicles involved in violations will be seized and legal action will be taken as per rules. All Deputy Superintendents of Police in the Sadar subdivision have been instructed to deploy divers at dams, reservoirs and ponds, and to enforce prohibitory measures at dangerous spots.
🚨 Special Focus on Women’s Safety
The administration has directed officials to maintain strict vigilance to prevent incidents of harassment or misbehavior with women and young girls at picnic spots. Any such incident will result in immediate legal action. Continuous patrolling and close monitoring have been made mandatory to curb anti-social activities.
🚑 Medical Teams and Ambulances on Standby
To handle emergencies, adequate traffic police personnel have been deployed to manage crowd movement and vehicle flow. The Civil Surgeon has arranged four ambulances equipped with doctors, medical teams and life-saving medicines. These teams will remain on duty at the district control room from 7 AM on December 31 until January 1.
👮♂️ BDOs, COs and Police Station In-Charges to Monitor
Block Development Officers (BDOs), Circle Officers (COs) and police station in-charges have been instructed to jointly monitor security arrangements at picnic spots in their respective areas. Deployed magistrates and police officials will submit safety reports to the Sub-Divisional Officer or the city control room every two hours.
🚫 Strict Restrictions at Waterfalls and Water Bodies
Boating will be allowed only for those wearing life jackets. Swimming and water sports without safety gear have been strictly prohibited. Entry near the falling zones of waterfalls has been banned to prevent accidents caused by slippery surfaces. At Dasham Falls, dangerous areas have been clearly identified and divers have been deployed under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bundu.
The district administration has appealed to citizens to celebrate the New Year responsibly and peacefully by following all safety guidelines. In case of any emergency, people have been advised to immediately contact the district control room or the nearest police station.
