Ranchi Inner Ring Road: Work to Begin on 4 More Stretches Soon

Jharkhand News : The pace of work on the Ranchi Inner Ring Road project has picked up significantly. The ambitious project, proposed in 11 sections with a total length of 48.826 km, is being implemented in phases by the Road Construction Department. Of these, four sections covering a total length of 19.46 km have received technical approval, and the proposal will now be placed before the competent authority for administrative clearance.

Once administrative approval is granted, the proposal will be sent to the cabinet, after which construction work on these four stretches is expected to begin. One of the key stretches is Section-2, from Jhirga Toll Plaza to Chirondi, with a length of 2.97 km. The estimated cost of this section is ₹164.68 crore.

All these sections have received technical clearance, and the process for administrative approval is currently underway.

Principal Secretary of the Road Construction Department Sunil Kumar has directed departmental officials to ensure close coordination with all concerned departments and remove obstacles coming in the way of road construction in a timely manner. He emphasized that inter-departmental coordination is crucial to avoid delays in such a major infrastructure project.

According to officials, out of the remaining seven sections of the Inner Ring Road, construction work is already in progress on three sections, three sections already have existing roads, and the DPR for one section has been prepared. Engineers of the Road Construction Department are currently scrutinizing the DPR.

Alternative Routes to Ease City Traffic

At present, Ranchi has an outer ring road of about 85 km. The proposed Inner Ring Road, with a length of 48.826 km, is being developed to improve connectivity within the city and reduce traffic congestion. Once completed, the Inner Ring Road will provide motorists with multiple alternative routes inside the city, helping in traffic distribution and offering relief from frequent traffic jams.
