Jharkhand Weather Update: Cold Wave Persists, Yellow Alert for Fog

Jharkhand News : Jharkhand is witnessing an intense cold wave as temperatures continue to fall across the state. The cold has reached extreme levels in McCluskieganj, where the minimum temperature plunged to minus 2 degrees Celsius, severely affecting daily life. Dew has started freezing, and people are struggling to cope with the harsh winter conditions.

According to local weather monitoring data, McCluskieganj recorded a steady decline in temperature over the past week — from 6.4°C on January 3 to -2°C on January 9. Ranchi’s minimum temperature also dropped significantly, falling from 10.7°C on January 3 to 7.3°C.

Orange Alert Issued in 7 Districts

The Meteorological Department has warned of severe cold conditions and issued an Orange Alert for cold wave in seven districts:
Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Hazaribagh, Latehar, Lohardaga, and Gumla.

A Yellow Alert has been issued for Ranchi, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Khunti, Simdega, and West Singhbhum, indicating continued cold but slightly less severe conditions.

Temperatures Below 6°C in Several Areas

Minimum temperatures recorded across Jharkhand on Friday show widespread cold conditions:

Six districts reported temperatures below 6°C, while the entire state remained below 9°C.

Cold Day Conditions in Latehar

Latehar experienced “cold day” conditions, with a maximum temperature of 15.4°C and a minimum of 7.3°C, intensifying discomfort even during daytime hours.

No Immediate Relief Expected

Weather scientist Abhishek Anand stated that there is no major relief expected over the next five days. Although a slight rise in temperature may occur over the next two days, a sharp dip is likely afterward. Severe cold conditions are expected to persist across Ranchi and other districts.
