Jharkhand Aims Beyond Mineral Exports, Focuses on Sustainable Growth: Soren

Jharkhand News : Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has stated that the state government’s vision is not limited to positioning Jharkhand merely as a mineral and natural resource exporting state, but to move towards value addition, sustainable industrialisation and people-centric development so that the benefits directly reach the citizens.

According to a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Hemant Soren was participating in a high-level roundtable meeting organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) during the World Economic Forum. The event witnessed participation from global policymakers, industry leaders and institutional investors.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to responsible and sustainable utilisation of natural resources to create employment opportunities and improve living standards. He emphasised that sustainability goes beyond environmental protection and includes livelihoods, skill development and social inclusion, especially for local and tribal communities.

Hemant Soren highlighted several state initiatives aimed at promoting mineral-based downstream industries, renewable energy, green technology and human resource development to boost employment. He also underlined the importance of maintaining environmental and social balance alongside economic growth.

The Chief Minister also drew attention to Jharkhand’s vast and largely untapped tourism potential. He said the government is working to develop eco-tourism, nature-based tourism and cultural tourism as key pillars of sustainable development, which will generate local employment while preserving natural and cultural heritage.

Reiterating the state’s long-term development vision, Hemant Soren invited global investors and partners to collaborate with Jharkhand in sectors such as responsible mining, sustainable manufacturing, renewable energy and tourism infrastructure.

Jharkhand’s active participation in this global sustainability dialogue organised by CII reflects the state’s commitment to integrating economic growth with environmental responsibility and social inclusion.
