Jharkhand News : Jharkhand has received a fresh investment proposal at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, as Welspun World expressed interest in investing around ₹300 crore in the state’s plastic manufacturing sector. The proposal was discussed during a high-level meeting between Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Welspun World Founder & Chairman B.K. Goenka, according to official and media reports.
During the meeting, the Jharkhand delegation highlighted the state’s proposed Plastic Park in Deoghar, outlining opportunities for PVC-based plastic manufacturing and allied industries. Welspun is expected to send a team to Jharkhand soon to conduct a site visit and detailed assessment to take the proposal forward.
Apart from plastics, Welspun also showed interest in exploring investment possibilities in critical minerals and the logistics sector. The state team shared details about infrastructure and facilities, including the logistics park in Dhanbad and warehousing and storage options across Jharkhand. Both sides agreed to maintain continuous communication to convert the proposals into on-ground projects.
The development is being seen as another step in Jharkhand’s push to position itself as an emerging industrial destination, with a focus on job creation and faster economic growth.
