The temple gates opened at 4 a.m., and with it began the first day’s Jalabhishek rituals. Devotees formed long queues, some having walked barefoot for over 100 kilometers from Sultanganj, carrying water from the holy Ganga in their kanwars. This tradition, symbolic of unwavering faith, marks a major spiritual journey that reaches its peak at the Baidyanath temple.

The entire town of Deoghar was decked up beautifully to welcome the sea of devotees. Massive arrangements were in place – from free food stalls and medical camps to an extensive security setup. Police forces, CCTV surveillance, and drone monitoring ensured the smooth conduct of the rituals. Special health centers were set up near the temple to handle any medical emergencies.

Inside the sanctum sanctorum, priests performed special rituals and offered Panchamrit (a sacred mix of milk, honey, curd, ghee, and sugar) to the deity. Devotees, waiting patiently in line, got their turn to pour holy water on the Shivling and seek blessings for peace, prosperity, and health.

This year, Shravan has seen record footfall, and temple authorities expect numbers to rise with every passing Monday. The administration has designated specific routes for the Kanwariyas, with enhanced cleanliness and safety arrangements throughout the temple town.

In addition to spiritual activities, cultural programs and devotional music are playing continuously around the temple, adding to the festive vibe. For the millions of devotees, this isn’t just a pilgrimage – it’s an emotional, spiritual, and once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Officials have urged all pilgrims to maintain discipline, avoid rushing, and follow all guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety. For devotees at Baba Baidyanath Dham, the first Monday of Shravan is a divine beginning to one of the most auspicious months in the Hindu calendar – a celebration of faith, endurance, and devotion to Lord Shiva.
