Jharkhand News : Jharkhand Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) central president Hemant Soren on Thursday accused the Union Government of neglecting Jharkhand in the latest Union Budget. Addressing a public gathering at Lokai in Koderma district, he said that despite being rich in mineral resources, the state continues to be ignored at the national level.

The Chief Minister stated that Jharkhand plays a crucial role in strengthening the country’s economy. He warned that if the state were to stop supplying its mineral resources to other states, India’s economic condition would be severely impacted. Yet, Jharkhand has not received its rightful share in development and budgetary support.
Welcoming new members into the JMM, Hemant Soren said the party is steadily strengthening its political base in Koderma. Reflecting on the 25-year journey of Jharkhand, he said that the state remained backward for decades as it was once treated as a neglected corner of Bihar.
Recalling the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle and the tribal movements in Jharkhand, Soren said that long before independence, tribal communities fought against British rule. From Hazaribagh Jail to prisons across Jharkhand, freedom fighters and movement leaders were imprisoned, and only after immense struggle did the state come into existence.
He said Jharkhand has always contributed coal, iron ore, mica, and other minerals, which helped cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Gujarat prosper. However, the people of Jharkhand were left in poverty and darkness due to planned exploitation. Even after independence, industries were set up, but local residents did not benefit from them.
Soren alleged that Jharkhand and Bihar were deliberately turned into labor-supplying states to fuel development elsewhere. He added that this situation is now changing, and Jharkhand is moving forward. Today, youths from the state are studying abroad and representing Jharkhand on global platforms.
Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu said that in the 2019 Assembly elections, people of Jharkhand chose to stand with Hemant Soren. He highlighted welfare schemes such as Sarvajan Pension Yojana, Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana, and Maiyaan Samman Yojana. He added that in the 2024 elections, public support further strengthened and now Koderma will also witness visible change.
After joining JMM, Shalini Gupta said the event marked a renewal of years of struggle. She asserted that Jharkhand belongs to its people and will always remain with those who fought for it.
Several senior leaders, including Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu, Pranav Verma, former विधायक Kedar Hajra, Backward Classes Commission Chairman Janki Yadav, and other party leaders were present. The program was chaired by District President Birendra Pandey, while District Secretary Pawan Michael Kujur conducted the proceedings.
