Elephant Rampage in Hazaribagh: Six Killed, Including Four from One Family

Jharkhand News : Panic has gripped Hazaribagh as a herd of five wild elephants continues to wreak havoc across villages. In the latest incident, the herd attacked a couple in Kajri village under Charhi police station limits. The woman died on the spot, while her husband sustained critical injuries and is undergoing treatment in a serious condition.

Earlier, the same herd went on a deadly rampage in Gondwar village under Ango police station limits of Churchu block, where six people were trampled to death. With the latest incident, the death toll has risen to seven within just two days due to elephant attacks in the district.

Fear spreads across villages

Continuous elephant attacks have created a climate of fear in Hazaribagh and surrounding areas. According to forest officials, the herd has been roaming the region for several days.

One elephant turns aggressive

Forest Department officials said that one elephant in the herd has become aggressive, leading to repeated attacks on villagers. Teams have been deployed on the ground to monitor the situation closely.

Advisory issued by Forest Department

The Forest Department has urged residents to remain alert, avoid venturing out alone, especially at night, and strictly follow safety advisories. Patrols have been intensified, and efforts are underway to drive the herd back into forest areas.

Authorities said additional measures are being considered to prevent further loss of life as the situation remains tense.
