CM Hemant Soren Approves Three Major Road Projects in Ranchi

Jharkhand News : In a major step towards modernizing urban infrastructure and easing traffic congestion, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday approved three major road projects for Ranchi and other key cities in the state. The proposals were presented by Sunil Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Road Construction Department, during a high-level meeting.

The Chief Minister directed the immediate preparation of DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) and asked officials to ensure timely execution. He also instructed that similar traffic improvement plans should be created for cities like Jamshedpur and Daltonganj.

The three approved projects are as follows:

  1. Argora Chowk to Chaputoli Elevated Flyover
This flyover will be 1.75 kilometers long and 10 meters wide. The road beneath it will be 7 meters wide and will include drainage systems and utility ducts on both sides. Beautification and proper lighting will be done under the flyover, with noise barriers installed on the flyover to reduce sound pollution. This route is expected to significantly ease congestion from Argora to Chaputoli.

  2. Karamtoli to Science City Flyover with Four-Lane Extension to Ring Road
A 2.2-kilometer-long and 10-meter-wide flyover will connect Karamtoli Chowk to Science City. From there, a four-lane road stretching over 5 kilometers will lead to the Ring Road. This corridor will help decongest some of Ranchi’s busiest roads and improve travel efficiency.

  3. Alternative Four-Lane Road from Ranchi Railway Station to Airport
A total of 4.7 kilometers will be constructed, including an 800-meter elevated stretch. The road will feature footpaths on both sides, a covered cycle track, and solar panels for lighting. It will also include greenfield landscaping, gazebos, benches, and essential facilities. This new route will serve as a fast alternative to reach the airport and provide easier access for residents of Hinoo, Doranda, Hatia, and the HEC area.

The CM also mentioned plans to explore other key proposals, such as a flyover from Harmu Mukti Dham to Radisson Blu, and another over the Swarnarekha River from Hinoo Bridge to Jagannathpur.

Other developments include:

  • Jamshedpur-Sakchi City Flyover – A 2.54 km long project to ease inner-city traffic.

  • Daltonganj-Garhwa Circular Corridor – An elevated ring-road-style route to balance regional traffic flow.

  • NHAI Junction Improvements – Safety and connectivity enhancements at Ramgarh, Daltonganj, Barkakana, and others.

These projects are expected to not only reduce traffic woes but also generate local employment, encourage investment, and boost industrial activity. The Chief Minister emphasized timely execution and regular reviews to ensure Jharkhand moves toward becoming a modern and developed state.
