Trainee Constable Death Sparks Protest at Jadugora Police Training Center

East Singhbhum : Tension gripped the Constable Training Center (CTC) in Jadugora, located in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, after the death of a trainee constable triggered protests among fellow recruits late Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Bajrangi Yadav, who was serving as a constable in the Ranchi district police and was currently undergoing training at the CTC. According to initial reports, Yadav had been unwell for nearly a week before his condition suddenly deteriorated on Tuesday afternoon.

Following the decline in his health, he was rushed to the UCIL hospital in Jadugora, where doctors immediately began treatment. Despite medical efforts, he passed away around 4 PM during treatment.

News of his death quickly spread across the training campus, leading to outrage among trainee jawans. A large number of recruits gathered within the premises, raising slogans against the administration and expressing dissatisfaction over what they described as negligence and lack of timely support for sick trainees.

Several trainees alleged that even when individuals fall ill during training, they are not granted leave promptly, nor are they provided adequate relief. They also highlighted concerns regarding the intense mental pressure during training and claimed that their grievances are often overlooked by authorities.

Upon receiving information about the unrest, senior officials rushed to the spot to control the situation. Discussions between officers and trainees continued late into the night, eventually helping to calm tensions and restore order within the campus.

Addressing the incident, CTC ASP Vijay Ashish Kujur clarified that the constable’s death occurred during medical treatment at the hospital and not due to any negligence within the training center. He urged people to refrain from spreading rumors and confirmed that detailed information has been shared with higher authorities.

Sources also revealed that trainees used the moment to voice broader concerns, including delays in passing-out parades, issues related to leave policies, and dissatisfaction with the conduct of training staff. The administration has assured that these concerns will be reviewed and appropriate steps will be taken.

Meanwhile, precautionary measures have been intensified across the CTC campus to prevent further unrest. The family of the deceased has been informed, and necessary legal formalities are currently underway.
