PVUNL Dispatches First Fly Ash Rake to Assam, Strengthening Green Logistics Initiative

Patratu : Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL), Patratu, achieved a major milestone on May 22, 2026, by dispatching its first fly ash rake carrying 4,000 tonnes of fly ash to M/s Star Cement, Tetelia, Assam. The destination is located nearly 1,243 kilometers from Patratu. In a significant step towards efficient resource utilization, the same railway rake used for coal transportation to PVUNL was utilized for back-loading the fly ash consignment.

The historic rake was flagged off by PVUNL Chief Executive Officer Mr. A.K. Sehgal in the presence of senior officials including Mr. Anupam Mukherjee, CGM (Project), Mr. Manish Kheterpal, GM (O&M), Mr. Om Prakash Solanki, GM (Maintenance & Administration), along with other PVUNL officials and representatives from Star Cement.

This initiative reinforces PVUNL’s commitment towards sustainable development and reducing carbon emissions. Transportation of 4,000 tonnes of fly ash through rail is expected to save nearly 15,000 litres of diesel, which would otherwise have been consumed in road transportation to disposal sites. The move will not only contribute to environmental conservation but also ensure substantial energy savings and promote eco-friendly industrial practices.
