Jharkhand News : A violent clash broke out between two families in Harbhonga village under the Chainpur police station area on Wednesday night, reportedly over allegations related to witchcraft and superstition. Six people were injured in the incident and have been admitted to MMCH for treatment.
According to local sources, one family accused the other of practicing witchcraft. The accusation led to a heated argument, which quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
Sticks Used in Violent Clash
During the fight, both sides allegedly used sticks and wooden rods, resulting in injuries to several people. Six members of one family sustained injuries, while one person is reported to be seriously injured.
All the injured were taken to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH), where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Police Investigation Underway
After receiving information about the incident, local police reached the spot and began investigating the matter. Officers are recording statements from the injured and questioning members of both families.
Action After Complaint
Station House Officer Lalji said that several people were injured in the clash and one person suffered serious injuries.
He added that the injured have been hospitalized and appropriate action will be taken against those responsible after a formal complaint is received and the investigation is completed.
The incident once again highlights the dangers of superstition and witchcraft-related allegations, which continue to trigger violence in some rural areas despite awareness campaigns and legal safeguards.
