Jharkhand News : Several people were injured after a speeding car ran over pedestrians near Mission Hospital late Sunday night before crashing into an electric pole and a hand pump.
More than half a dozen people sustained injuries in the accident. The car driver was also seriously injured. The incident triggered panic in the area, and local residents rushed to the victims’ aid.
All the injured were taken to Shaheed Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the car was travelling at a very high speed when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, hitting several people standing along the roadside. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the car was extensively damaged.
After receiving information, the Bada Bazar OP Police reached the spot and launched an investigation.
Police are examining the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary suspicion suggests the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol, although officials said this has not been confirmed and will be established only after the investigation.
Following the incident, local public representatives and social workers visited the hospital to meet the injured. Police are also working to identify all the victims and investigate every aspect of the accident.
