Jharkhand News : Hemant Soren has ordered an inquiry into allegations against Raj Hospital after the family of a patient claimed the hospital charged ₹22 lakh) for treatment following a leg fracture and that the patient later died during treatment.
Taking cognizance of a social media post, the Chief Minister directed Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri to conduct a thorough investigation and take action against those found responsible.

Patient Died During Treatment
According to reports, the incident occurred about a week ago. The deceased, 18-year-old Raju Kumar Ranjan from Latehar, had suffered a fractured leg in a road accident and was admitted to Raj Hospital around 40 days earlier.
His family alleges that he developed an infection in his leg during treatment, which eventually led to his death.
Family Alleges Medical Negligence
Following the patient’s death, the hospital allegedly issued a bill of ₹22 lakh to the family.
The incident triggered protests by the victim’s relatives and local residents inside the hospital premises. The family has accused the doctors and hospital management of medical negligence, claiming that improper treatment resulted in Raju’s death.
Post-Mortem Conducted at RIMS
Following demands from the family, the post-mortem examination was conducted at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) to determine the exact cause of death.
The district administration has now been directed to investigate the matter. Further action will depend on the findings of the inquiry, and the allegations remain under investigation.
