Jharkhand News : The Kurash Association of Jharkhand held its General Meeting on July 21 at Hotel Blue Ridge, Ashok Nagar, Ranchi. District representatives from across the state participated in the meeting to discuss the promotion and development of Kurash, along with plans for the upcoming state-level training camp and selection trials for the Sub-Junior National Kurash Championship.
The meeting unanimously decided that the State-Level Kurash Training Camp and the Sub-Junior National Kurash Championship Selection Trials will be held on August 16 at Argora Vivah Bhavan, Ranchi. Players from various districts of Jharkhand are expected to participate and showcase their talent during the event.
Speakers at the meeting highlighted that Kurash, the national sport of Uzbekistan, is now played in more than 130 countries and has been steadily gaining popularity in India. Besides being an effective form of self-defence, Kurash has established itself as a competitive sport and is featured in the School Games, the Asian Games, and several international competitions.
The association emphasized the need to expand the sport across Jharkhand, encourage greater youth participation, and nurture talented athletes capable of representing the state and the country at national and international levels.
Representatives from Ranchi, Lohardaga, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Giridih, Khunti, Hazaribagh, Deoghar, Bokaro, and Ramgarh attended the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Association President Ramswarup kumar, Secretary Vinit kumar yadav, Treasurer Prakash Ravidas, Technical Director Sandeep Kumar, along with Sonu Kumar, Jai Govind Singh, Lav Kumar, Dilip Lohra, Hopna Soren, Laliya Mahto, Nikhil Prem, Ravi Oraon, Praveen Kumar Mahto, and other members of the association.
