Jharkhand News : A father and son were killed while a woman sustained serious injuries after being struck by lightning in Purushottampur village under Madan Panchayat of Panki block in Jharkhand’s Palamu district on Tuesday night.
The deceased have been identified as Balmukund Yadav and his son Dilip Yadav. The injured woman, Anita Devi, is undergoing treatment at the Panki Community Health Centre (CHC).
According to local residents, Balmukund Yadav and his son had gone to Tetarai on Tuesday evening. They were returning home on a motorcycle at night when lightning struck them on the way, killing both of them on the spot.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the scene and, with the help of local villagers, shifted the bodies to a hospital. The bodies were later sent for post-mortem examination.
Panki Police Station In-charge Deepak Kumar Singh said on Wednesday that the post-mortem of both bodies was being conducted and further legal formalities were underway.
In a separate lightning-related incident in the same village, Anita Devi was seriously injured. She was immediately admitted to the Panki Community Health Centre, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
