Jharkhand News : Several passengers sustained minor injuries after a bus collided with a truck on the Ranchi–Patna highway near Meghatari in the Koderma Ghat under Sadar police station limits late Sunday night. The accident triggered a massive traffic jam that disrupted vehicular movement for several hours.
According to eyewitnesses, the “Shiv Shakti” passenger bus, travelling from Siwan in Bihar to Tata (Jamshedpur), reportedly lost control near Meghatari and grazed an oncoming truck. In an attempt to avoid the bus, the truck also lost control and rammed into two other trucks moving ahead.
Fortunately, all occupants of the vehicles escaped with only minor injuries. However, panic broke out among the passengers onboard the Shiv Shakti bus following the collision.
The accident left all four vehicles stranded on the road, resulting in a long traffic jam in the Koderma Ghat. Passengers travelling on long-distance routes and other commuters were forced to wait for hours before traffic could resume.
Upon receiving information, a patrol team from Koderma Police Station rushed to the spot. After considerable effort, the police cleared the damaged vehicles from the roadway and restored normal traffic movement on the Ranchi–Patna highway.
Police said the exact cause of the accident is being investigated.
