Jharkhand: A total of 622 applicants successfully obtained learner’s driving licences in Koderma after qualifying the online driving test conducted during block-level camps organised across the district on Tuesday.
The camps were held at all block offices following the directions of the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. The initiative coincided with a state-level programme at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Project Building, Ranchi, where the Transport Department, Government of Jharkhand, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Motors Limited for the establishment of the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) in Jamshedpur. The event was broadcast live to all districts through video conferencing.
According to the district administration, 955 applicants registered for learner’s driving licences during the camps. Of them, 622 candidates passed the online driving test, while 170 failed. The remaining applicants did not appear for the examination.
During the programme, selected beneficiaries were issued driving licences through a video conference. In Koderma, Deputy Development Commissioner Ravi Jain and District Transport Officer Vijay Kumar Soni symbolically handed over learner’s driving licences to 10 beneficiaries, including Kumar Aditya, Ranjan Kumar, Raja Singh, Saurabh Kumar, Danish Kaif, Sumit Kumar Chaudhary, Piyush Prasad Yadav, and Raja Kumar Kesari.
Motor Vehicle Inspectors Kumar Shanu Yadav and Joseph Toppo, Assistant Administrative Officer Uday Shankar Bakshi, and other officials, including Akul Ranjan, Ammar Siddiqui, and Abhishek Marandi, were also present during the programme.
