Bihar News : The Bihar government will undertake a comprehensive initiative to preserve the state’s ancient historical and cultural heritage and promote major archaeological sites as new tourism destinations. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has directed officials to prepare a detailed action plan for the conservation, scientific survey, excavation and overall development of key archaeological sites, including Bodh Gaya, Sultanganj, Mandar and the world-famous Kesaria Stupa.
The Chief Minister said the historical significance of these heritage sites would be re-established and promoted as attractions at both the national and international levels. Conservation and tourism development works will be undertaken in a phased manner.
Experts Submit Survey Report on Maa Mundeshwari Temple
A delegation of senior archaeologists and experts from across the country met Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and submitted a report on a detailed survey of the Maa Mundeshwari Temple complex and adjoining areas in Kaimur district.
The experts said thousands of ancient architectural remains scattered across the temple complex could be scientifically restored, conserved and documented. Such efforts could help develop the entire area as an important centre of Indian archaeological heritage.
CM Directs Phased Conservation Plan
The Chief Minister directed officials to prepare a phased action plan for the conservation and restoration of the archaeological remains at the Maa Mundeshwari Temple complex in accordance with the experts’ recommendations.
He also stressed the need for comprehensive development of the area’s tourism potential so that visitors from India and abroad can experience its rich historical and cultural heritage.
Archaeologists and Senior Officials Attend Meeting
The delegation that met the Chief Minister included Padma Shri Dr K.K. Mohammed, Prof. Dr Rajat Sanyal, Prof. Anil Kumar, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Patna, Superintending Archaeologist Dr Hariom Sharma, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh, and Pranav Kumar, Secretary of the Art, Culture and Building Construction Department.
The initiative is expected to strengthen Bihar’s archaeological conservation efforts while giving a fresh impetus to heritage tourism across the state.
