Jharkhand News : Jharkhand Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari has taken serious note of the waterlogging at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) campus after images of the flooded premises surfaced on social media.
The minister sought a detailed report from the RIMS Director and Superintendent, stating that no negligence would be tolerated at the state’s largest government hospital.
According to RIMS Director Dr. Dipendra Kumar Sinha, temporary waterlogging occurred during ongoing repair work amid continuous rainfall.
Subcontracting Raises Concerns
The preliminary inquiry also revealed that the contractor had allegedly subcontracted the work instead of executing it directly. Officials said this affected both the quality of the work and the level of supervision.
Minister Orders Action Against Contractor
Taking a serious view of the matter, Dr. Ansari directed the Secretary of the Building Construction Department to initiate action against the contractor in accordance with the rules and begin the process of de-registering the contractor.
He said there would be no compromise on the quality of government works, and those found negligent would face strict action.
Focus on Accountability
The Health Minister also instructed the RIMS administration to ensure regular monitoring of all construction and maintenance works. He emphasized that officials and engineers must carry out their responsibilities with complete accountability and that any lapse in quality control or supervision would not be tolerated.
Water Cleared Within 30 Minutes
Dr. Ansari said that immediately after receiving information about the waterlogging, the RIMS administration acted promptly and cleared the accumulated water from the campus within about 30 minutes, restoring normal conditions.
