Jharkhand News : Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the firing on two Hyva vehicles on the 13 Mile Transport Road in Barkagaon, Hazaribagh. According to police, the suspect allegedly opened fire at the police team and attempted to flee during a weapon recovery operation. In retaliatory firing by the police, he sustained a bullet injury to his leg.
The injured suspect was initially taken to the Community Health Centre in Barkagaon and was later referred to Sadar Hospital, Hazaribagh, for further treatment.
According to police, the incident took place on the night of July 25, 2026, when two Hyva vehicles were allegedly targeted on the 13 Mile Transport Road. A case was subsequently registered at Barkagaon Police Station under Case No. 133/26.
During the investigation, police detained Ankit Kumar Pandey, a resident of Pipradih village, for questioning. Police claimed that an examination of his mobile phone revealed Telegram chats with individuals allegedly associated with gangster Prince Khan and his K.S.S. group.
According to the police, during questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted to carrying out the firing along with other associates and leaving threatening notes in the name of the K.S.S. organisation.
Police further claimed that the suspect told investigators that the weapons and explosives allegedly used in the incident had been hidden at an abandoned gas plant near Pipradih village.
Suspect Allegedly Opened Fire During Recovery Operation
Following the information, a police team took the suspect to the location to recover the alleged weapons and explosives.
Police said that during the recovery operation, the suspect suddenly pushed a police personnel and allegedly opened fire at the police team with a pistol that had been recovered. He then attempted to escape.
The police team reportedly fired in self-defence, hitting the suspect in the leg. He was subsequently apprehended and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Weapon, Bomb and Threatening Notes Recovered
Police claimed to have recovered:
- One country-made pistol
- One 7.62 mm empty cartridge case
- One misfired round
- One live cartridge
- One country-made bomb
- Four handwritten threatening notes
Police are now investigating the alleged involvement of the suspect’s other associates. Investigators are also examining the suspected links with the Prince Khan gang and their possible role in the 13 Mile firing incident.
