Jharkhand News : Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday visited the memorial site of legendary Jharkhand movement leader and martyr Nirmal Mahato at Uliyan in Jamshedpur on his 39th martyrdom day. He paid floral tribute to Nirmal Mahato and offered his respects at his statue.
Addressing a public meeting organised in memory of the martyr, Soren said Jharkhand has always been a land of heroes. He said the life of great movement leaders and martyrs such as Nirmal Mahato would continue to inspire society. Jharkhand earned its distinct identity after a long struggle and the sacrifices of countless movement activists, he said.
Protecting Rights of Tribals, Locals and Common People a Priority
The Chief Minister said the ideals and thoughts of the state’s martyrs would continue to guide society. Protecting the rights and interests of tribals, indigenous people, farmers, the poor and ordinary citizens remains a primary commitment of the government, he said.
Soren said efforts would continue to take the benefits of development to people at the last mile while following the path of sacrifice, dedication and struggle shown by the martyrs. Strengthening social unity, brotherhood and harmony along with ensuring the benefits of government schemes reaches people is among the government’s top priorities, he said.
‘Unity of Jharkhand’s People Is Its Biggest Strength’
Hemant Soren said the unity and mutual cooperation of the people of Jharkhand are the state’s biggest strengths. He called upon people to work together, without fear and without stopping, to build a strong, secure and prosperous Jharkhand in line with the dreams of the martyrs.
The Chief Minister said people gather at the memorial every year from morning to evening to remember a great movement leader and warrior. Referring to Nirmal Mahato, he said, “As long as the sun and moon remain, the name of Nirmal Mahato will remain.”
‘Jharkhand Is a Land of Heroes’
Soren said the guidance and struggles of great personalities had helped unite the faith, blessings and collective strength of the people of the state. This, he said, was why he called Jharkhand a “land of heroes.”
He said countless great personalities had emerged from the state who were no longer physically present but had devoted their lives to Jharkhand. They played an important role in uniting tribal and indigenous communities, strengthening their voice for rights and taking forward the struggle for justice.
Their struggle, sacrifice and dedication, he said, remain an integral part of Jharkhand’s social consciousness and identity. Following the path shown by these personalities would be the true tribute to them, he said.
‘One Hero’s Story Leads to the Stories of Others’
The Chief Minister said the unity of Jharkhand’s people is recognised across the country. He said some conspiratorial forces were attempting, in a planned manner, to turn the state’s unity and collective strength into their own strength.
However, he said there was no need to worry, pointing out that whenever outsiders had tried to attack the people of Jharkhand, the people had responded by standing united and confronting them.
Soren said people had gathered to bow before martyr Nirmal Mahato and recalled the recent death anniversary of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, who had remained a guide for the people of Jharkhand for a long time.
He said Jharkhand is a land of heroes and that one hero’s story leads to the stories of other heroes. The large gathering, he said, showed that although the martyrs were no longer physically present, their thoughts and ideals would continue to remain part of people’s lives.
CM Calls for Moving Forward Inspired by Martyrs
Expressing his gratitude to those present, Hemant Soren said people should draw inspiration from their martyrs and guides and continue moving forward in life.
He called upon everyone to move ahead with strength, without fear and without stopping, while following the ideals of the state’s heroes.
MLAs Sabita Mahato, Sameer Mohanty, Sanjeev Sardar and Somesh Chandra Soren, former minister Banna Gupta, and several other dignitaries and a large number of people were present at the programme.
