Jharkhand News : The Joint Kisan Morcha and joint workers’ organisations blocked Subhash Chowk in Ramgarh for around two hours on Monday as part of the nationwide ‘Rasta Roko, Rail Roko, Jail Bharo’ programme. The protest was organised against the policies of the Central Government.
The programme began with a procession from the CPI office at Jhanda Chowk, led by state secretary Comrade Mahendra Pathak. Carrying red flags and banners, the participants marched through the city while raising slogans before reaching the CPI-ML office.
Protesters Block Subhash Chowk
From the CPI-ML office, hundreds of people marched towards Subhash Chowk under the joint banner of the All India Kisan Sabha and All India Kisan Mahasabha, led by district secretary Comrade Heera Gop.
The protesters blocked the road at Subhash Chowk and raised slogans against the Central Government. They accused the government of pursuing policies that are against the interests of farmers and workers.
Mahendra Pathak Targets Centre
Addressing the gathering, CPI state secretary Mahendra Pathak said the Central Government was continuously introducing policies that were against farmers and workers.
He said the Ramgarh programme was organised as part of the nationwide Jail Bharo movement against what he described as anti-farmer and anti-worker policies.
Protesters Raise Multiple Demands
The protesters demanded the withdrawal of the four Labour Codes and sought a minimum monthly wage of ₹26,000 for unorganised workers.
They also demanded a guarantee of 300 days of work under MGNREGA with a daily wage of ₹700, cancellation of the Land Bank policy and acceptance of the demands raised by protesting students.
The protesters also demanded answers from the Central and state governments on the JPSC and GST issues and called for immediate action to control rising inflation.
Leaders and Workers Participate
CPI state secretary Mahendra Pathak, Heera Gop, CPI district secretary Kayum Malik, Mewalal Prasad, Neman Yadav, Chitranjan Mahto, Kalyan Ansari and Raj Kishore Bedia, among others, participated in the programme.
