Jharkhand News : Amid a students’ protest to gherao the Jharkhand Assembly, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the government has a responsibility to listen to students and address their concerns. In a social media post, Soren thanked the administration and police personnel for handling the situation with restraint, sensitivity and responsibility during Monday’s student movement.
Addressing the students, the Chief Minister said they had raised their demands peacefully. He said that in a democracy, students have the right to express their views and that respecting their voice is the government’s responsibility.
Government Assures Action on Students’ Demands
Soren said the government had listened to the students’ concerns. He added that senior ministers of the government had remained in continuous dialogue with them and assured that action would be taken on their demands with seriousness and sensitivity.
The Chief Minister said that over the past few days, the government had demonstrated that no one would be spared if found guilty, regardless of who they were. He said the government’s clear objective was to address shortcomings in the system so that students would not face difficulties in the future.
Focus on Transparent and Secure Examination System
Soren said the government wants to make the examination system more transparent, technology-enabled, secure and accountable. He added that students’ participation would be the most important part of this change.
The Chief Minister said the government’s effort was not merely to discuss problems in Jharkhand but to establish a new example of finding solutions to them.
Soren Appeals to Students to Avoid Political Narratives
Soren also said he understood that during the students’ peaceful protest, some people from the opposition had allegedly attempted to disturb the atmosphere and divert students for political benefit.
He appealed to the students not to be influenced by such political narratives. Soren said students are the future of Jharkhand and that ignoring their voice was not the government’s approach.
He reiterated that listening to students and resolving their problems was the government’s responsibility. The Chief Minister appealed for the issue to be resolved collectively through dialogue and trust.
