Jharkhand News : The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with grandeur and dignity at Radha Govind University on August 15, 2026. The celebrations began with the hoisting of the National Flag by University Chancellor B.N. Sahu, followed by the National Anthem, filling the entire campus with patriotic fervour.
The programme was attended by chief guests Subodh Kumar Mishra, Veena Mishra and Sanjeev Kumar, along with Chancellor’s wife Phoolmati Devi, Secretary Priyanka Kumari, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rashmi, Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Nirmal Kumar Mandal, Finance and Accounts Officer Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Controller of Examinations Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar, Management Committee member Ajay Kumar, Media In-charge Dr. Sanjay Singh, social worker C.P. Santan and other dignitaries, officials, teachers, employees and students.

NCC Cadets Welcome Guests
The programme began with a grand welcome for the guests by NCC cadets. Students from various departments presented a disciplined and impressive march-past, while patriotic slogans echoed across the campus.
Students of the Physical Education department presented a special performance depicting the courage and valour of soldiers serving at the nation’s borders. Their performance was warmly appreciated by the audience with loud applause.
Vice-Chancellor Calls for Active Role in Nation-Building
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rashmi delivered the welcome address and extended greetings to the chief guest and all other guests. Highlighting the significance of Independence Day, she called upon students to play an active role in nation-building.
The cultural programme was a major attraction of the celebrations. Students from different university departments presented captivating dances and cultural performances in Telugu, Tamil, Nagpuri and other Indian languages.
The performances highlighted India’s cultural diversity and conveyed a message of unity.
‘Determination and Quality Education Lead to Excellence’
Addressing the gathering, Chancellor B.N. Sahu said, “Only through determination, positive thinking and quality education can an institution reach new heights of excellence.”
He said the university’s future vision was not limited to expanding education but also focused on building a healthy and bright future for every student and society. He added that healthy youth form the foundation of a strong society and a developed India.
Patriotic and Cultural Performances Enthrall Audience
Patriotic songs, dances and cultural performances made the celebrations memorable. The entire programme was marked by enthusiasm and excitement among the students.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Ranjana Pandey and Dr. Amaresh Pandey, with the support of students Binish Rahman, Atul Kumar Gupta, Kritika Kumari and Simran Kumari.
Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Nirmal Kumar Mandal delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to all guests, teachers, employees, NCC cadets and students who contributed to the successful organisation of the programme.
The celebrations concluded with the National Anthem, followed by the distribution of sweets among guests, students and members of the university community.
The Independence Day celebration transformed the Radha Govind University campus into a vibrant reflection of patriotism, cultural diversity and national unity, while strengthening the spirit of dedication and responsibility towards the nation among students.
