Jharkhand News : The Jharkhand High Court has sought a clear response from the state government over the long-pending vacancies for the Chairman and members of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). The court has directed the government to inform it by September 10 when the appointments to these key posts will be completed.
The matter was heard by a division bench comprising Chief Justice MS Sonak and Justice Rajesh Shankar. The court observed that JPSC is a constitutional body and that keeping important posts vacant for a prolonged period is a serious matter.
JPSC Chairman’s Post Has Remained Vacant
The vacancy in the post of JPSC Chairman had also come up during the previous hearing. At that time, the court had asked the state government to clarify the status of the appointment.
The court has now also directed the government to provide a timeline for filling the vacant posts of JPSC members.
ACF and RFO Examination Issue Raised
During the hearing, lawyers appearing for JPSC informed the court that the government had cancelled the process related to the ACF and RFO examinations.
The issue came up during the hearing of a petition concerning the shortage of officers and employees in the Forest Department. The vacancies in key JPSC positions were also brought to the court’s attention during the proceedings.
Government to Respond on September 10
The state government will now have to inform the Jharkhand High Court on September 10 when the vacant posts of JPSC Chairman and members will be filled.
The court’s direction requires the government to place a clear timeline for completing the appointments before the bench.
