Chutupalu Ghat Accident: Out-of-Control Trailer Hits 3 Cars, Truck

Jharkhand News : A railway employee was killed after an out-of-control trailer reportedly suffered brake failure while descending Chutupalu Valley on the Ranchi-Ramgarh main road on Friday evening. The trailer hit three cars and a truck before a motorcycle also came under its impact.

The deceased has been identified as Jagdev Tirkey, a resident of Angara. He was employed with the Railways and was posted at Jageshwar Vihar station. According to the information available, he died on the spot after his motorcycle was caught in the accident.

Trailer Goes Out of Control After Brake Failure

The trailer was travelling through the downhill stretch of Chutupalu Valley when its brakes reportedly failed. The driver tried to control the vehicle, but the trailer went out of control on the slope.

Within moments, the trailer became a danger to vehicles moving ahead. It first hit three cars and then collided with a truck, causing extensive damage to several vehicles.

Railway Employee Dies in the Accident

During the crash, a motorcycle was also caught in the collision. Railway employee Jagdev Tirkey, who was riding the motorcycle, died at the spot.

Tirkey was a resident of Angara and worked with the Railways. He was posted at Jageshwar Vihar station and had left his home at around 3 pm for duty, but lost his life in the Chutupalu Valley accident.

Traffic Jam on Ranchi-Ramgarh Road

The accident brought traffic on the Ranchi-Ramgarh main road to a halt. Damaged cars, the truck and the trailer remained on the road, while people rushed to help those affected.

Long queues of vehicles formed on both sides of the highway. Traffic movement remained affected for nearly an hour.

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the accident. Police personnel and the rescue team began relief and rescue operations, helping injured people out of the damaged vehicles and sending them to hospital for treatment.

The damaged vehicles were later removed from the road, following which traffic was gradually restored.
