Jharkhand News : In a new initiative to make police patrolling more effective and accountable, the Mufassil police station in West Singhbhum district has introduced digital monitoring of patrol teams. Under the initiative, Rakshak App barcode stickers have been installed at around 14 important locations identified as sensitive and highly sensitive areas.
The campaign was carried out on Sunday under the leadership of Mufassil Police Station In-charge Vinod Kumar. Probationer Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Birju Kumar and Police Sub-Inspector Mithun Kumar were also part of the drive.
Barcodes Installed at Key Locations
The police team installed barcode stickers at petrol pumps, the Kolhan Range office, schools, colleges, major intersections and other important locations in the police station area.
The initiative is aimed at digitally monitoring the activities of patrolling teams under the beat policing system.
During patrol duty, police personnel will have to reach the designated locations and scan the barcode installed there through the Rakshak App. Once scanned, the patrol team’s visit to the location will be digitally recorded.
Digital System to Monitor Patrolling Routes
According to police officials, the system will make it easier to monitor whether patrol teams are regularly reaching their designated routes and identified locations.
The digital monitoring mechanism is expected to ensure the presence of police personnel in sensitive areas while making the patrolling system more accountable and effective.
The initiative will also help authorities keep track of patrol activities and strengthen beat policing across the Mufassil police station area.
Technology to Strengthen Beat Policing
Police Station In-charge Vinod Kumar said the technology-based system was being introduced to make beat policing more systematic.
He said the arrangement would help monitor police patrolling while also assisting in keeping track of activities at the local level.
The system could also prove useful in ensuring quicker action after receiving information about an incident or emergency situation.
Regular Scanning Process to Begin
Police officials believe that closer monitoring of regular patrolling at sensitive and highly sensitive locations will help curb anti-social and criminal activities.
Following the installation of the barcode stickers, patrol teams will now begin regularly visiting the designated locations and scanning the codes through the Rakshak App.
