Ranchi: The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Jharkhand, forecasting thunderstorms, lightning and rainfall across the state until September 13. Heavy rainfall is likely in nine districts, including Ranchi.
The districts under the heavy rain alert are Ranchi, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, Deoghar and Jamtara. Some places in these districts may experience heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
Heavy Rain Likely in Nine Districts
According to the weather department, several parts of Jharkhand are likely to receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning until September 13.
A yellow alert has been issued in view of the forecast, and people have been advised to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions.
Maithon Records Highest Rainfall
During the past 24 hours, Maithon in Dhanbad district recorded the highest rainfall in Jharkhand at 87 mm.
Jagannathpur in West Singhbhum recorded the state’s highest temperature at 35.8 degrees Celsius, while Kanke in Ranchi recorded the lowest temperature at 19.6 degrees Celsius.
Heavy Rain in Ranchi Early Wednesday
Ranchi and nearby areas witnessed heavy rainfall early Wednesday morning. The weather later cleared, but clouds returned during the afternoon, with light drizzle reported at some places.
Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
Temperatures in Other Major Cities
Jamshedpur recorded a maximum temperature of 34.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23.4 degrees Celsius. Daltonganj recorded a maximum of 32.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.6 degrees Celsius.
Bokaro recorded a maximum temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.6 degrees Celsius. Chaibasa recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius.
