Assam to Write a New Story of Change in the Fight for Rights: Hemant Soren

Jharkhand News : In the Assam Assembly elections, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has begun asserting its presence aggressively. Addressing a massive public rally in the Borchalla Assembly constituency, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched a sharp attack on the BJP and shared strong opinions on the NRC-CAA issue.

Soren said that since coming to power, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been creating divisions in society by raising issues like NRC and CAA. He added that BJP’s politics is based on a “divide and rule” policy, which harms national unity and social harmony.

Addressing the people of Assam, the Chief Minister said that this election is a fight for the rights of tribals, Dalits, and backward classes. He assured the public that just as change was possible in Jharkhand, Assam too can write a new story of transformation.

Soren also highlighted the hardships faced by the public during demonetization and the COVID-19 pandemic. He questioned the adequacy of financial assistance given to women during elections, asking why women’s accounts in Assam do not receive Rs 9,000 every month.

The Chief Minister further stated that JMM is formally contesting in Assam for the first time, presenting a strong electoral challenge through its candidate Abdul Majan. He emphasized that JMM’s connection with Assam is not new and has existed since the time of Shibu Soren.

Expressing concern over Assam’s situation, Hemant Soren said that during his visits to tea gardens, he witnessed the dire conditions of laborers and tribal communities. He pointed out that while the country boasts of development, many areas in Assam still lack basic facilities like electricity, clean water, and permanent housing. The state’s economy relies heavily on tea gardens, yet workers are still not receiving fair wages, reflecting government failure.

At the end of the rally, Hemant Soren urged the public to press the number four button on the EVM and ensure a decisive victory for JMM candidate Abdul Majan. The rally took place at the Deju Tea State Ground in the Rogonadi Assembly constituency of Lakhimpur district.
