Bihar News : A tragic road accident claimed four lives and left more than 15 people injured in Bhagalpur district late Tuesday night. The incident occurred on NH-31 under the Jhanda Pur police station area, between Dayalpur and Bagri railway bridge, in Bihpur block.
According to eyewitnesses, a passenger bus, a magic tempo carrying labourers, and a mini truck were involved in the collision. Around 15 workers were returning towards Jhanda Pur in the magic tempo from a brick kiln near Bagri when a speeding bus coming from the Bihpur side rammed into the vehicle. Almost simultaneously, a mini truck also crashed into the tempo, making the impact extremely severe. Several passengers were thrown onto the road.
Police from Jhanda Pur station rushed to the spot after receiving information and, with the help of local residents, shifted the injured to the Bihpur Community Health Centre. Doctors declared two people dead on arrival, while two others succumbed to injuries during treatment. The deceased included a woman, two men, and a child.
Critically injured victims were later referred to JLNMCH Mayaganj for advanced treatment. Some of the injured are reported to be residents of Katihar and Khagaria districts.
Following the accident, traffic on NH-31 was disrupted for several hours, causing a long jam. Police later cleared the road and seized all three vehicles. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
