- Calls for Judicial Probe by a Committee of Sitting Judges
Jharkhand News : Communist Party of India (CPI) Jharkhand State Secretary Mahendra Pathak has strongly criticized both the BJP and the Jharkhand government over the ongoing student agitation concerning alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Pathak said students have been peacefully protesting for several days, demanding action against alleged exam irregularities, paper leaks, and corruption in the recruitment process. He termed the students’ movement “completely justified” and expressed the CPI’s support for the protest.
Pathak alleged that instead of responding sensitively to the students’ concerns, the state government resorted to force during the Assembly gherao on Monday. He condemned the police lathi-charge on protesters, saying it reflected the government’s unwillingness to listen to the voices of young aspirants.
“In a democracy, students have the right to raise their concerns peacefully. By using force, the government has attempted to weaken the movement rather than address its demands,” he said.
The CPI leader also accused the BJP of trying to “hijack” the movement for political gain. According to Pathak, the BJP’s demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe was politically motivated, noting that the agency already has thousands of pending cases.
Instead, Pathak demanded a judicial inquiry by a committee of sitting judges to ensure an impartial and credible investigation into the alleged recruitment irregularities. He said such a probe would inspire greater public confidence than a politically driven investigation.
