Jharkhand News : The Jharkhand Cabinet has approved the Cambo Megalift Project in Mandar and Chanho blocks of Ranchi district, with an estimated cost of Rs 2.36 billion (Rs 2,36,20,81,000). The project aims to irrigate 4,055 hectares of land across 14 villages in these blocks. The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting held at the Project Bhavan on Monday.
Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel briefed the media, stating that the project involves lifting water from the South Koel River through pumps and delivering it via an underground pipeline, delivery chambers, distribution systems, and control mechanisms. A diversion structure (weir) will be constructed near Cambo village in Mandar block to ensure continuous water availability. The lifted water will then be supplied through pipelines for rotational irrigation in the targeted areas.
The Cabinet approved 13 proposals in the meeting, including:

By-election funding: Rs 7.84 crore from Jharkhand Contingency Fund (JCF) for conducting by-elections in the Ghatsila Assembly constituency.

VIP/VVIP helicopter services: Extension of two Bell-429 helicopters (2+5 seater, twin-engine) for six months under existing terms.

Administrative approvals: Decisions on promotions and appeals for officials in healthcare and other departments.

Jharkhand Stake Allied and Health Care Council Rules-2025: Formation approved.

Housing benefits: Free land allotment registration fees waived for international hockey players Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan.

Road development projects in Dhumka: Administrative approval for Baramsia–Shahrghati road (8.130 km) at Rs 44.93 crore and Karmatan–Bhogtandiha road (7.775 km) at Rs 35.81 crore, including widening, strengthening, and reconstruction.

Baba Saheb Ambedkar Housing Scheme: Financial aid increased from Rs 1.3 lakh to Rs 2 lakh per beneficiary; targets raised from 176 to 2,400 for FY 2025-26.

Promotion & pay scale approvals: Revisions for Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Minority & Backward Class Welfare Department staff.

Legislative session approval: End of the third (monsoon) session of the 6th Jharkhand Assembly approved.

Multi-purpose staff rules: Jharkhand State Multi-purpose Staff (Recruitment & Service Conditions) Rules-2025 formation approved.

Pension revisions: Pension and family pension for retired or deceased staff of government engineering and polytechnic colleges retroactive from January 1, 2016.
The Cabinet emphasized that these initiatives will strengthen irrigation, infrastructure, governance, and welfare schemes in Jharkhand.
