Jharkhand News : In a major operation against coal smugglers, the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) seized five Hyva trucks loaded with illegal coal in the Rajrappa area late Monday night. The raid was led by Rajrappa General Manager Kalyanji Prasad.
According to officials, when the team intercepted the trucks, smugglers tried to attack the CCL squad. Two truck drivers even dumped coal on the road before fleeing. Despite resistance, the CCL team managed to seize five vehicles and filed an FIR against the smugglers.
During the raid, a large stockpile of illegal coal hidden inside a forest near the Raw Coal siding was also recovered. Smugglers had allegedly created makeshift roads in the jungle to transport coal easily at night.
The GM further revealed that attackers also arrived in a black Thar SUV (registration no. 0013) and damaged the vehicle of a team member, Chandra Shekhar Azad. However, the CCL team stood firm and prevented the smugglers from escaping with the trucks. Currently, three seized Hyvas remain parked in the Laheri Tungri forest area.
Officials said this was a historic crackdown aimed at breaking the backbone of the illegal coal trade in the region.
